I am thrilled to have had one of my new pastel paintings selected for the “Richmond: People and Places” exhibition at Orleans House Gallery from 2nd June until 19th August 2018.

New year…. new beginnings
I am back in the studio this week working in my sketchbook.
I want to explore my drawing and mark making this year.
An inspirational quote by John Berger with his honest analysis of “ways of seeing” and creating.

“For the artist drawing is discovery…. each mark you make on the paper is a stepping-stone from which you proceed to the next, until you have crossed your subject as though it were a river.”

I have been looking closely at a landscape, seeing its history as physical scars on its surface and translating this into colour, textures, pattern and marks creating rhythms.

I have been experimenting in the studio to create a new body of work. I have started painting my landscapes on boards covered in metal leaf. This is enabling me to really play with layers of colours and glazes. I am really excited about scaling up my landscapes and making some larger work. My new work will be available from the Wimbledon Art Studio’s Open Studio Weekend on the 12th – 15th May.
